Despite the ebb and flow of supply and demand, the average cost of fuel will undoubtedly continue to rise year after year − a trend that today has many people looking for more fuel-efficient means of transportation, including returning to that age-old standby: the bicycle. While bicycles are obviously an excellent means of personal transportation, they can be so much more. For the members of the Coasters Bicycle Club in Wichita, they are also reason to get together every Thursday, rain or shine, for the weekly Pub Pedal.

THREE PEACEFUL WORLD RELIGIONS |
From a global perspective, Buddhism and Jainism originated next door to the major Western religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), in India. Daoism originated further east, in China. All of these religions can be considered ultimately peaceful, and while some have been used in an attempt to justify war (for example, Buddhim was manipulated in World War II Japan), those searching their scriptures and basic teachings are hard-pressed to find any justification of violence. |

Mary Fields was a Black woman who was also known as “Stagecoach Mary.” She stood six feet tall, wore two guns on her hips at all times, carried a ten-gauge shotgun and was a legend in her time. She was born a slave during Andrew Jackson’s administration, but she didn’t know the exact date because she was born into slavery. She smoked, cussed and was as tough as shoe leather.

The 2008 summer movie season launched its first nerd-gasmic salvo of cinematic spectacle with the May releases of Jon Favreau’s “Iron Man” and Stephen Spielberg’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Sandwiched between those were “Speed Racer” and “Prince Caspian.” That’s a heck of a lot of love for Hollywood to dish out in one month. And it doesn’t stop there. The whole summer promises to be a drunken wonderland of glorious celluloid geek-tainment.

Fans of science fiction are probably already aware of the list of films that are part and parcel of this review – but new fans of the genre sometimes called “sci fi” or “SciFi” should find these films and savor where movies are today. These are the top ten science fiction movies made to date, in my humble opinion.
